Bangkok is bad news, they said. The traffic, the nightlife, the money you would probably waste for shopping malls and souvenir markets, indeed, are bad news. But then when you arrive at Don Muang, you go up north instead crawl down south, and decide to stay at your friend's dorm on the university complex, you'll have a whole different set of story. And less of a "bad news".
Okay so Manhattan's Fifth Avenue, yes it's the world's most expensive shopping street in the entire universe. And overall's living expenses there, could cost a fortune. But it's not like you're going to stay forever in New York -although if you do, that'll be awesome. And if you're planning to stay for up to one week in The Big City, congratulations, you're legitimate to benefit some useful tricks of living modest life as a temporary New Yorker.
